Video: Chinese Man Builds His Own iPad

Even with the iPad 2 supply back to regular levels, there's still one barrier separating people from Apple's tablet: price. In China a 16 GB iPad 2 costs a little under $600. So what's a person to do if they can't raise the funds, but don't want to defer to one of the iPad's cheaper rivals? Build their own. That's exactly what Chinese engineer Liu Xinying did. 

Using parts available at the computer shop where he worked, Xinying put together a white touchscreen tablet that, save for the Apple logo, doesn't really resemble an iPad at all. It's much thicker than the Steve Jobs's tablet and runs Windows XP. However, it only cost Xinying a hair over $300 to build. Props to that.
