Rumor: Microsoft to Buy Out Nokia Mobile for $19 Billion?

Ever since former Microsoft executive Stephen Elop took the reigns at Nokia, the two companies have practically been bosom buddies. Windows Phone 7 became the official operating system of all future Nokia phones and Microsoft took on much of the company's R&D for mobile. Now, according to the same insider who first reported the WP7 deal, Nokia and Microsoft could potentially become that much closer, with Microsoft looking to buy Nokia's phone business outright. Microsoft would take ownership of Nokia phone production for $19 billion, according to Boy Genius Report, who reported the story.

If the rumor is true, then Microsoft would suddenly be in the position of making its own phones, producing its own operating system and even owning its own stores. Who does that sound like to you?
