According to a member of the MacRumors Forums, Research In Motion's (RIM) co-CEO Jim Balsillie, speaking at a social media conference in Toronto, told all in attendance that BlackBerry's killer app, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), will be coming to the iPhone on April 26.
This rumor has been floating around for some time now. BGR reported earlier this month that RIM would be porting the BBM service to not only iOS, but to the Android OS as well. If it were to be released to other platforms, BGR reported that RIM would charge either a recurring or one-time fee for the service.
We're taking all of this with a heavy, Jerod Mixon-sized grain of salt. BlackBerry's messaging capabilities, namely BBM, are what keep most users locked in to the platform. The main lament from people who leave BlackBerry for another platform is, "Damn, I wish I still had BBM". Why would RIM give one its best features to the competition? But who knows? Crazier things have happened.

Update: RIM reached out to let us know that it did not hold a conference in Toronto this week and that Jim Balsillie did not speak at any event in Toronto this week.

It can be true, if you think about it logically the idea of it is to make money out of it. i live in dubai and over here everyone have blackberry and iphone is not very popular because Etisalat and Du aren't providing iPhones in their stores, plus they sell it for high prices comparing to Europe and US. if you look into UK and US iPhone is their deal and blackberry isnt popular as the iPhone over there. if they sell the BBM App for some price, imagine how much money the will make out of it.
