A new iPhone game created by a group of Canadian psychologists could improve your chances of quitting smoking by 15%.
Nicot, a simple game app available for the iPhone, was the result of a study conducted by the Canadian Research Chain in Clinical Cyberpsychology and the University of Quebec in Outaouais.
The study found that crushing virtual cigarettes improved patients commitment to going quitting smoking. The researchers, who studied 91 smokers, don't really know why that is, but that's what they've found. One hypothesis suggests that if a smoker actually invests time in such a simple game, then they realize they have a problem and how much quitting actually means to them.
Whatever the reason, the results saw that playing the game, which is pretty crudely designed, led to a dramatic drop in nicotine addiction. You can read the entire report here.
