Hacked Xbox Kinect Turns You Into a Comic Book Hero

Is there anything a hacked Kinect can't do? Xbox's motion sensor peripheral was always a cool concept, but a recent spate of inspired tinkering has demonstrated viral potential that the folks at Microsoft probably didn't anticipate.

Take, for instance, these Carnegie Mellon students new "Comic Kinect." Maya Irvine, Emily Schwartzman and Mark Shuster, students in the university's Interactive Art and Computational Design program, used their Kinect to overlay comic book animations and sounds on top of goofy interactions with friends-- allowing them to act out a their own live comic. Pretty cool, right?

If Microsoft was smart, they'd release a public dev kit and app store so these kind of innovations could really take off. C'mon, Redmond. Do it.
