Amazon Gearing Up to Compete Against Netflix and Hulu?

Thanks to an enterprising tipster, it now looks like online retail giant and Kindle producer Amazon may finally be ready to join the unlimited Internet streaming party. According to the above leaked image, which was supposedly displayed for a short time on the Amazon Prime website, Prime subscribers will be granted unimited access to over 5,000 movies and TV shows—a la competing services like Netflix and Hulu Plus.

Today, Amazon offers a Video On Demand service for a la carte movie and TV rentals in a scheme similar to iTunes. Rumors of the company offering a subscription service have been going around for some time. Currently a Prime subscription goes for $79 per year, and if the above snapshot is to be believed, the streaming service would come at no additional cost.
