Zayn Partners With Versace to Create His Own Versus Capsule Collection

Zayn teams up with Donatella Versace as the new face of Versace Versus.

Zayn is Versace's new pick for the brand's Versus Versace line, a capsule collection of men's and women's clothing, and will star in the next two Versus campaigns. The 23-year-old singer will be the first designer hired by Versace for the Versus collection since their previous designer, Anthony Vaccarello, left to join Saint Laurent.

Donatella admitted to the New York Times that she was "not exactly a fan of [One Direction]," but she was impressed by Zayn after meeting him through his model girlfriend, Gigi Hadid. She was also very open about the reason she picked Zayn for the job. "Versus is everything that the Versace line is not. It is loud, it is rebellious—I don't want shoppers buying both from Versus and Versace. The houses have different souls," Donatella said. "I wanted Zayn because he can help me talk to his followers. I want to listen to their language. I want to learn more about them, what they think and what they like. They are a new generation that without working with someone like Zayn, I will never reach."

This isn't Zayn's first introduction into the fashion world. Previously, the singer designed a shoe line for Giuseppe Zanotti. He also hit up this past year's Met Ball, and has been a staple in the front row at this year's fashion week supporting Gigi.

Look for the first images of the Zayn and Versus line to arrive next spring with the collection set to be released May 2017.
