We Took a Look Around KAWS' First UK Museum Show

The New York artist hits Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

New York-based artist Brian Donnelly — better known as KAWS — has been making waves since the 90s by melding together the worlds of toys, sculpture, pop art and advertising. After starting out as a street artist, in 1999 he made an impact creating vinyl toys, which eventually led him into sculpture. He’s best known for models of his iconic trademark character, a mouse-like nostalgic figure in the Disney style (in a past life he worked as an animator on Doug and Daria), and his work includes painting, prints and graphic design.

Now he’s got his first museum exhibition in the UK, taking over the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Both indoors and out, his giant figures linger over the horizon like melancholic cartoon characters contemplating their own existence. Check out our images below of the show.

KAWS’ exhibition runs until June 12 at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
