Remember back in April of 2015, when Saint Laurent filed a lawsuit against What About Yves founder Jeanine Heller? Well, according to The Fashion Law, the Parisian label has finally settled the lawsuit.
It all started after Heller’s parody brand began producing graphic shirts that featured the slogan “Ain’t Laurent Without Yves”—a response to Hedi Slimane’s decision to drop “Yves” from the label’s name. Saint Laurent then sued Heller for "trademark infringement, trademark dilution, false designation of origin and unfair competition." But despite the lawsuit, Heller kept selling the designs to retailers, including Paris boutique Colette, which denied Saint Laurent’s request to stop stocking the designs.
The case looked like it would be an ugly and drawn-out one; however, according to The Fashion Law, documents from the Southern District of New York court show that the case “was voluntarily dismissed on January 12th.”
As of now, the “Ain’t Laurent Without Yves” tees have been removed from Heller’s website, though the article states that there is "no word on what the monetary component of the settlement is.”
