Ralph Lauren is one of the most important designers of all time and along the way to attaining such legendary status, the RL name has also produced tons of other big time designers. If you look up and down some of the well-known designers who have risen to the forefront of menswear in recent memory, it's likely that there is a stint at RL on their resume. But just how deep does Ralph's DNA run? Valet spoke to a bunch of designers who honed their craft at Ralph Lauren University, an alumni list that includes the likes of Todd Snyder, David Hart, John Varvatos, Simon Spurr, Thom Browne, Michael Bastian, Sid Mashburn, Frank Muytjens, Antonio Ciongoli and more. They all share their insights about what it's like to work at Ralph Lauren and why the brand is second to none when it comes to turning out great talent.

The overarching message is that working for Ralph is like eventually playing for your favorite childhood sports team and how it can also be a difficult undertaking because the company is so particular and picky about details. But you don't build one of the greatest lifestyle brands on superfluous decisions now do you? There are two great anecdotes in here from Antonio Ciongoli of Eidos Napoli and James Goldstein of Jean Shop about designs they worked tirelessly on to perfect only to be told everything that was completely fucking wrong with them. Be sure to read the full piece over at Valet.
