Okay, So American Apparel Isn't Going Anywhere, But What's Next Exactly?

None

We fully anticipated that American Apparel would have to deal with its shit year through some big business changes and last week it filed for bankruptcy. But as we all know, that doesn't mean AA is going to roll over and die, fade into obscurity, sell off all their remaining inventory in a fire sale for the ages and eventually spark a bunch of nostalgic blog posts a decade down the line. So, on that note, how the fuck is it going to bounce back? Well, WWD lets us in on the plans.

Apparently, smarter business people than ourselves believe that the company is "well positioned" to get out of this situation. Of course, serial asshole Dov Charney is still going to try and retake control of the company he built. We'll see how that plays out since, by this point, the company's fate will ultimately be determined by investors. In more immediate news, once all the official court hearings wrap, AA is going to go through its stores and pick which ones to close. They'll hold liquidation sales and leases will be dissolved. It's also a strong possibility that it might be sold off to another company all together to make its revival dreams a bit more realistic, especially considering a lot of the debt the company was saddled with will be supposedly be gone by then.

The rumors: It is possible a new owner or investor could partner up with Charney in a move that would put him back into American Apparel's driver's seat. That scenario would be a completely absurd and undeserved redemption story come full circle and nothing short of downright flabbergasting, but you never know. If so, we're guaranteed to get a movie out of all this.
