Some breaking news here, folks. Longtime Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz is said to be leaving the French fashion house after 14 years at the helm. By all accounts it didn't really seems that Elbaz was going to get out of the game, but if you read through the responses in yesterday's WWD piece regarding the increasingly fast pace of the fashion industry, it was clear that he wasn't very happy with the constant year round fashion calendar, saying that in order to have an opinion you have to be loud and that he would prefer to "whisper." News of Elbaz's exit comes at a crazy time considering that Raf Simons just left his post at Dior, so the immediate reaction is to assume that Elbaz will move over there to fill the vacancy. It makes sense, at least on paper, as his elegant aesthetic matches up quite perfectly with Dior's. But considering his dislike for the fashion calendar, you have to think Elbaz is at least immediately going to do the same thing as Raf and take some much needed time off for himself.
