Tim Blanks, Confirmed Legend, Joins The Business Of Fashion

The New York Times reports this morning that our one of favorite fashion personality, G.OA.T. critic and confirmed legend, Tim Blanks, will be joining the team over at The Business Of Fashion, the former blog now industry news powerhouse. With the news of Style Dot Com shutting its doors and ultimately turning into an ecommerce site, it was expected that the few editors left at the site (a round of lay-offs occurred a while back) would be transitioning to a new property, Vogue Runway, but Blanks had decided to go his own way, handing in his resignation last week.

We're not necessarily a site that covers the ins and outs of the media world, but we're basically required to cover any news related to Tim Blanks, one of the fashion world's most important and most recognizable faces and voices. Not only does this mean we'll be seeing Tim Blanks at a new outlet after nine years of service at Style Dot Com, but it also means that BOF will be transitioning into a role that will encompass runway photos and reviews, which it did not prior. While BOF is a very business-focused enterprise and more of a resource for  industry insiders than a consumer magazine type like Style Dot Com, Blanks says he isn't switching things up from his signature style: "The fact is, my voice is my voice. I'm not going to suddenly start talking in a Donald Duck voice," he said. Wow, I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, but goddamn is it hilarious.

Blanks coming aboard BOF comes along with a few other hires to facilitate the site's expansion. It's comforting to know that we'll still be seeing him around for a long time to come. I always relish his reviews and quick show recaps that pop up on Instagram. Learning that we'll still be getting vintage Blanks is great news because, for a while there, it seemed that his future was up in the air thanks to the shuffling. Thank you Blanks God.
