Japanese favorite N.Hoolywood recently showcased its Spring 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week: Men’s. Designer Daisuke Obana’s minimal approach to traditional menswear was still pretty evident in the range, but for this season, he drew inspiration from two unique sources: typography and calligraphy.

Items like mac jackets, boxy tees, relaxed suits, and knits were elevated through oversized fits, as well as mix of solid colors and standout prints, such as brush-stroke patterns and letter graphics. In typical N.Hoolywood fashion, a neutral color palette dominated the collection, but there was a handful of items featuring bright reds and bluish-purples—providing a good amount of variety among the mostly monotone looks.
