When I was fourteen, I caught my first real kiss in a disabled bathroom at Lakeside Shopping Centre while wearing a pair of Reebok Classics and I wouldn't have changed them for the world—wouldn't have changed them then 'cause I was young and dumb, and didn't know the wonders Manc staple Oi Polloi could do with the best shoe Britain ever produced. Thanks to OP honcho Nigel Lawson digging up a pair of throwback 1985 all-white NPC UK II Classics from his personal archive, Reebok have brought them back in a crazy soft premium white leather and super limited run of a cool 200. It's a shoe typified by the stellar photography of Alex Hulsey - who worked on gritty Brit film Catch Me Daddy - showcasing a bunch of lads just going about their day, fishing on a grey Bolton morning, smoking tabs. I've always had a thing for trainers equally at home on the feet of people who'd frequent this very LITerary establishment as well as those who'd kick the ever-loving shit out of you for wearing a bad scarf, and this is very much one of those. These drop on Tuesday, July 7th at 10 a.m. on Oi Polloi.
