If you've ever wondered where the question "who are you wearing?" came from, wonder no longer. Fashionista reports that in the celebrity styling world, money talks and big name designers try to get big name celebrities in their clothing as they walk the red carpet at a big event often through a hefty paycheck that can cost upwards of $250,000. At a recent panel, a few celebrity stylists weighed in on how they pick and choose the right gear for their clients.

While it doesn't happen for many, some celebs can rake that shit in and stylists are fortunate enough to get a solid cut of the business as well. It's nothing totally official either and done pretty casually. Sounds like FIFA, no? But if a celeb does wear a dress or piece from a designer, they've been known to receive anywhere from $100-250,000 for wearing it ONCE and it may even lead to an eventual campaign spot. Naturally, that's on the high-end of things, while lesser known designers tend to get credit at smaller events that happen on short notice. This applies mostly to the women's side of the business, but men get a little action as well—think of all the times Matthew McConaughey has worn Dolce & Gabbana. He's done ads for the brand as well as worn the clothing on the carpet. He's obviously getting some coin out of the deal, which is all we're really hoping for in life: GET PAID TO WEAR CLOTHES.
