The clip of Kanye West cleaning out Kim Kardashina's closet has basically become Kimye folklore at this point. The moment was pivotal in turning Kardashian into a Vogue-covering fashion powerhouse, but it turns out there's more to the story than we see in the episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Kardashian admitted on Live! With Kelly and Michael that she cried after Kanye purged her closet.
"When we first started dating he went through my closet, and he had a stylist come in and they put everything he thought wasn't cool enough in a pile," Kardashian said. "I walked in and it was like a pile to the ceiling of shoes, all my amazing shoes that I loved. I started crying."
She added that she initially wasn't willing to follow Yeezus' advice and moved all the shoes to another room. However, she was swayed when she saw the new additions to her wardrobe. "It was really cool new designer stuff, I hadn't even heard of some of these designers before, and it really helped me fall in love with fashion," Kardashian said.
Kanye didn't stop with the closet overhaul, though, and still remains very involved in all her looks. 'Ye even wanted Kardashian to change right before leaving the house that very day for the interview with Ripa and Strahan. "I think you should be a little more simple today," he told her, according to Kardashian.
Kardashian insists that the style advice happens both ways, though. "Sometimes I tell him to dress it up a little bit," because his style is "very simple," she said.
The husband and wife redid Kardashian's closet again earlier this year. We can't help but wonder if there were some waterworks then, too, and what that might have looked like...
