Every day, New York Magazine posts some vintage fashion moments that range from saving a John Galliano show invite for 20 years to YSL's famous "Scandal" show. The past few installments have been devoted to fashion empress Anna Wintour and her time at the magazine during the '80s. Her influence and presence there meant fashion took a front seat at the magazine.

Of course, it couldn't all focus on women's, so The Cut unearthed some spreads Wintour was responsible for that put menswear at the forefront. "The International Style" story from March 1983 profiles some stylish New York men who had, at the time, brought the influence of the world's most fashionable cities to the Big Apple. Subjects include a young British photographer who "lives in black," a financial consultant who's clad in suits, a Columbia law student who DJs on the side (sounds like he was ahead of his time tbh) and believes men his age have "a new acceptance of fashion" and an art director who almost exclusively wears Issey Miyake after meeting designer in person (genesis of the flex?). The entire lineup is a bunch of pure '80s bro legends. There are a few more spreads that showcase some retro menswear greatness, so be sure to head over to The Cut for the rest.
