We know that narcissism is now at a historical level thanks to social media. That's no secret. Between Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, we're all so used to seeing our own visages and we've accepted that fact as well. WE'RE ALL NARCISSISTS IN SOME CAPACITY END OF STORY. But Big Psychology™ is now telling us that your #iwokeuplikethis posting self is not just narcissistic, but that you might be a fucking psychopath as well.

A new study had 800 men between the ages 18 and 40 fill out a survey about their online behavior and the findings were a bit of what you'd expect, but with a little wrinkle thrown in. While the more these men edited the photos they posted, the more narcissistic they were, psychopathic tendencies were found in subjects who posted more impulsively, just snapping the photo and throwing it up immediately because they wanted (needed?) to see themselves. A direct quote: "It's not surprising that men who post a lot of selfies and spend more time editing them are more narcissistic...But the more interesting finding is that they also score higher on this other anti-social personality trait, psychopathy, and are more prone to self-objectification." Fuuuuuuuck.

For some reason, I always feel like I'm somehow more social if I post photos of myself to Instagram. You know, give the people what they want and shit. But, apparently, I'm completely wrong and also a psychopath. And in true psychopathic fashion, I will continue to do so because I still need to raise my follower count. Since Instagram is a platform of 300 million narcissistic psychopaths to begin with, at least I'm amongst friends.
