Rihanna doesn't follow trends, she sets them. In fact, scores of celebrities will probably be seen toting around a certain Balmain bag in a few weeks. It's the "Smooth Leather Pierre Bag," to be more specific. After being seen on RiRi's arm several times, the purse has quickly become known as the singer's "new favorite Balmain bag." The tote, however, also marks the first time one of Rihanna's accessories has outshone the pop star herself.
Not long ago, Balmain dropped a series of videos dedicated entirely to the $4,875-bag, no doubt a work of art that deserves its own spotlight. All of the videos open with the hashtag "Enroll #BalmainArmy" and are set in battle scenarios. One video positions the bag among tropical plants; in the end, a camouflaged hand swipes it from view.
The one below depicts the ritzy purse as the anchor to a bomb, perhaps a prediction that the accessory will blow up shortly—both literally and figuratively, in this case.
