Mr Porter dropped a new editorial online featuring New York Giants' Victor Cruz. Cruz is decked out in designer labels—Thom Browne, Givenchy, Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, Neil Barrett, Marni, Bottega Veneta, and more. He also talks about fashion, his dreams of collaborating with one famous and celebrated fashion designer, and even athletes' personal styles. Gems.
Cruz told Mr Porter that he realized he "wanted to expand his mind and hang out in places besides sports bars" three or four years ago. "I wanted to meet different designers, not just for free clothes, but to be friends and learn from them," he said. But learning may not be all he's set out to do. "My dream would be to collaborate with Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy," he added, "and make leather hat cases for travel."
He then went on to talk about how other athletes dress. "Aaron Rodgers has a good style, very clean and sophisticated," Cruz said of the Green Bay Packers quarterback. "I like Larry Fitzgerald’s [of the Arizona Cardinals] three-piece suits. It looks good on a guy who’s tall and has an athletic build like him." Cruz added that he doesn't think his teammate, Eli Manning, could take more style risks. "I’m trying to get him to bring it a bit more," he said. "He has a Zegna contract of some sort. He always looks good, but he’s not having as much fun as he could."
