This insane watch by Swiss watchmakers Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey would have been something special regardless, packed full of high-end watch nerd features such as a platinum case, a 72 hour reserve and a thirty degree double tourbillon, but what really pushes it over the edge is a one-of-a-kind sculpture from artist Willard Wigan.
Wigan is a British artist who holds the world record for the smallest sculpture, which is a gold motorbike that fits inside a single strand of facial hair. Wigan is known for creating his own tools out of needles and tweezers and working meticulously, in between his own heartbeats even to insure that his tiny sculptures aren't ruined by a twitch or a breath. When Greubel and Forsey came across his work they instantly wanted to collaborate with him and see if they could collaborate and fit one of his sculptures inside a watch - which turned out to be quite difficult, but ultimately possible, and involved creating a special lens on the side of the watch just so the tiny sculpture would be visible to the naked eye. The end result is this watch, entitled Art Piece 1 and priced at a cool $1.5 million. Will this be showing up in a Jay Z video soon?
If you're a one-percenter with a taste for tiny size and enormous price you can check this watch out at Trinity House in New York where it is currently on display.
