While the world eagerly awaits Kim Kardashian's coffee table book of selfies, new MVPs of the self-portrait game have emerged to show the world how it's really done.

Reddit user Jazus_ur_lookin_well recently visited the Crawford Art Gallery in Ireland and decided that the typical tourist photos were not going to cut it. Because a lot of Greco-Roman statues were sculpted in dramatic poses with outstretched arms, the photographer was able to position his/her camera as if the works were taking selfies.

There is no book in the works (yet?) for these amazing photos, but the set has inspired a trend, and the /r/statueselfies subreddit is gaining steam online. Museum security, curators, and tour guides are probably less than thrilled with the idea of people getting dangerously close to these very old and priceless relics, but some people will do anything and everything for the perfect selfie. Remember that time a kid broke leg off of a 19th century statue in Milan while taking a selfie? Expect more of that in the near future.
