Illustrations From One of New York's Real "Mad Men" Will Go on View at the Museum of the City of New York

This exhibit features hand-drawn illustrations from the heyday of advertising.

If you're a fan of Mad Men, mark your calendars. An art exhibit about one of New York's original advertising kings, called "Mac Conner: A New York Life" (open Sept. 10 to Jan. 11, 2015), is coming to the Museum of the City of New York.

The exhibit will take visitors back in history to the era portrayed in the Emmy Award-winning drama series through the work of McCauley "Mac" Conner. Conner, who is now 100 years old, created both advertising and editorial illustrations from the 1940s to the 1960s for publications like Redbook, The Saturday Evening Post, and Cosmopolitan. The exhibit will feature over 70 vibrant original artworks, each hand-painted by Conner.

"Mac Conner is one of the few remaining voices of an influential group of New York illustrators who created the look of a generation. We are thrilled to showcase his incredible work and introduce visitors to yet another remarkable New Yorker," museum director Susan Henshaw Jones told Gothamist
