Formally known as E.L.K., Australian artist Luke Cornish’s newest exhibition at StolenSpace Gallery, "Louder Than Words," is the artistic culmination of his time spent in refugee camps throughout Lebanon. These intense works encapsulate the artist's experience in a part of the world shrouded in conflict. His style, characterized by his layer upon layer stencil technique, mirrors the “the layers of complexity and emotion he attempts to capture,” according to the press release.

Drifting between the worlds of street and fine art, Cornish uses his multi-layered process to construct an oeuvre of works that fall into a category of neo-photorealism. Implementing up to 85 layers of hand-cut acetate, his stencils offer little differentiation between his art and reality.

"Louder Than Words" will illuminate some the most somber aspects the human experience, with works that “act as a looking glass through which we can see the darkest elements of crumbling societies—where we could be if not for the accident of our birth,” reads the press release. The show runs form Aug. 8th through Aug 31 at StolenSpace Gallery, making this a must-see end-of-the-summer exhibition.
