While at the launch of Spike Lee's installment of the New Era Heritage Series, we sat down briefly with the acclaimed filmmaker. During our discussion, Spike spoke about how his own distinct sense of style influenced the fashion in his films. He also detailed on why he's not a fan of some of today's style trends. In particular, Spike lamented on snapback hats and $500 belts—basically two-thirds of the gear you see in struggle-rap vids. But considering he's had such a heavy hand in the appeal of Jordans (the perfect complement for that belt that costs half a stack) and such, we countered by asking him if he feels he's contributed to that thirst for premium goods.

Check out the interview above to see what Spike had to say.
