Russ Karablin has been at the helm of SSUR for over 20 years, and he's hardly concerned with the newer brands that have entered into the streetwear realm. instead, he's focused on making power moves on the opposite coast. BallerStatus recently caught up with the OG to talk about SSUR's new Los Angeles space, what he thinks about new brands, and more. Check out a few excerpts from the interview below.

On whether or not SSUR is a reflection of his own personality:
"It's a reflection of who I am. My interests, travels, memories, observations, and opinions. Sex, politics, and protest has always been the mantra."

On whether or not he thinks contemporary streetwear is too soft:
"It can be. I don't really concern myself with it."

On why he chose to open a store in Los Angeles right now:
"It made sense with the brand's growth. I wanted to have a place to bring friends and a second home when traveling. The new flagship allows us to stock, sell, and operate from both coasts."
