If the game Candyland had been created by Quentin Tarantino, this is probably what it would’ve looked like. Netherlands-based photographer Ashkan Honarvar’s gory yet strangely drool-inducing series “Faces 5” features models who appear to have suffered grisly injuries at the hands of Keebler elves. The images depict horrible traumas, but skin, bone, blood, and loose eyeballs have been replaced by frosting, sprinkles, and hard candies.

Ashkan’s work often employs the themes of mutilation and manipulation, but this series marks the debut of dessert items in his work. What could such a curious mash-up symbolize? The answer is up for debate, but you’ll probably have time to give it some thought—it’ll be a while before you get these bizarre images out of your head.
