Jay Z Listed as One of the "Most Powerful People in the Art World"

Hov made the list that also includes Ai Weiwei, Cindy Sherman, and Larry Gagosian.

To coincide with the start of Frieze New York 2014, The Guardian compiled a list of the "Most Powerful People in the Art World," and the list is pretty diverse. It has the usual suspects, including Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Emmanuel Perrotin, Larry GagosianAi Weiwei, and Cindy Sherman, some people you have definitely never heard of, and then there is Jay Z, who is listed as one of the most powerful collectors.

The blurb written about Jay Z's inclusion on the list reads, "In one video he rapped in front of a Takashi Murakami painting and a sculpture of Tim Noble and Sue Webster (featuring a flashing dollar sign). His Picasso Baby, filmed in Pace Gallery and featuring too many curators and artists to count, was not the art world's finest seven minutes."

Absent from the list is Marina Abramovic, who also appeared in the "Picasso Baby" video last summer, and who has a major performance on the way at Serpentine Gallery. Swizz Beatz and Pharrell Williams, both of whom are serious collectors and artists in their own right, also failed to make the list.

To see who else did and didn't make the cut, head over to The Guardian.
