That's right. Police in Dubai have just revealed plans of modeling the new Dubai Police Museum building off a cop hat. The blown-up cap will overlook Al Ittihad Road, not far from police headquarters, and the city's ritzy Al Mulla Plaza.

So far, the four-story museum's budget has been approved by city officials, so it looks like this thing is actually happening. The giant hat "will be positioned in a way that complements Al Qiyadah Metro station and Metro passengers," Dubai police officials told Gulf News, but it's hard to imagine the gaudy building complementing anything.

Apparently, a lieutenant general by the name of Dahi Khalfan Tamim came up with the idea to ditch more traditional museum aesthetics for this unconventional design. Despite its kitschy exterior, however, the museum is expected to enter the Guinness World Records as the largest police hat there ever was, so there's that. What do you think? Is it a cheeky work of modern art or is it plain old tacky?
