A year ago today, the country was devastated to learn that two bombs had gone off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring 264 others. Photographer Robert X. Fogarty organized a portrait project that brought a group of runners to finish line, many for the first time.
Survivors of the bombing posed with phrases written on their scarred bodies including "Still Standing" and "Less Leg, More Heart." The series also features the family members and friends of those killed in the blasts with words in memoriam to their lost loved ones. The series is incredibly powerful and serves as the perfect way to honor and remember the marathon runners on this anniversary.
