When a hacker named Guccifer targeted George Bush's email, he unlocked the treasure that was the former president's paintings. The initial leak was cause for embarrassment (we all remember the shower self-portraits), but once Bush's secret was out, the president couldn't put down the paintbrush.
Bush was spotted showing off his work to Hillary Clinton in December, and last November, The New York Times ran an article about his post-presidential life, which mostly involves—you guessed it—painting. In the article, Bush revealed his plans to paint the 19 foreign presidents and prime ministers he worked with while in office.
This morning, the TODAY show finally gave us a glimpse of Bush's masterpieces in anticipation for his first exhibition at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas. The show, called "The Art of Leadership: A President's Personal Diplomacy," includes paintings of Vladimir Putin, Tony Blair, Hamid Karzai, and his favorite subject, George H. Bush.
One painting that will not be included in the show is a portrait of the former First Lady. “It needs some work,” Laura Bush told the TODAY show in a previous interview.
