Budapest-based photographer Flora Borsi’s latest project combines her sharp wit with her creative talents. In “Photoshop in Real Life,” the artist offers a snarky critique of our image-obsessed media, suggesting that the tools available to shape and warp the human image are getting out of hand.
From whitening your teeth to making yourself look 15 pounds thinner to enhancing your skin until it glows with all the luster of a Greek god, there’s basically an app for every bodily imperfection these days. This project takes aim at these superficial digital edits by offering a conception of what people would look like if such edits could be made in real life. Borsi's images highlight how unrealistic and bizarre these manipulations are, and how much of a disconnect there seems to be between reality and life on a screen.
