Bar hoppers in places like Philadelphia, Boston, and New York can now get their drink on while creating a masterpiece. Cities across the East Coast are now offering a creative way for people to socialize and get in touch with their inner Picasso's, called "social painting."
The Fox and Hound, a popular pub in downtown Philadelphia, for example, offers a weekly event called "Paint Nite," where an instructor guides patrons through the process of making a still life or landscape painting. As you can imagine, social painting is all the rage among both art lovers and amateurs alike. Spots get filled quickly, and these events usually sell out. In the city of brotherly love alone, there are dozens of bars that offer these weekly art sessions. In addition to The Fox and Hound, there's Painting with a Twist, dedicated specifically to painting.
"It's been crazy," assistant manager of Painting with a Twist Laura Romaine told AP. "They're like banging down the door to come in here and paint." Painting with a Twist, a company based in Louisiana, offers these artsy social events and private painting parties, too.
So for those looking to do something fun this weekend, why not give social painting a try? You'll be the hippest one out of all your friends.
