So there was a video swirling around YouTube showing a cool life hack: Using your shoe to pop the cork open on a wine bottle. We’re sure the five-million plus people who watched the video tried out the experiment. But as the old saying goes, if there are no pics it didn’t happen.

Luckily the good folks at NPR decided to try out this hack to see if it actually worked. They later struggle to find out that it’s actually not as easy as it looks, and that you can’t just use any shoe. Sneakers and heels (duh) are a no go. But if you've got double monk strap dress shoes on, then you’re ahead of the game. For those who want to find out about the science behind it all, head on over to the NPR website for more. But for those who want some laughs, stay here and watch the video above.
