Every year for the past eight years, GQ has named their picks for the Best New Menswear Designers in America. Previous winners include the likes of Daiki Suzuki's Engineered Garments, Robert Geller, Billy Reid and Alexander Wang, while in recent memory the magazine has abandoned winners in favor of a more 10-year-old recreational basketball league system where "everybody is a winner!" Personally, we would prefer one designer to take home the crown each year, but more money stands to be made when every nominee gets to collaborate with the Gap. Anyway, this year's nominees are as follows: Daniel Lewis of Brooklyn Tailors, Rob Garcia of En Noir, John Elliott of John Elliott + Co. and John Moore of M.Nii. Gotta be honest here, I don't know what the fuck a M.Nii is, but the fattest shouts go out to the big homie John Elliott for finessing what is a very well-deserved nod. As the cozy boy movement approaches its apex, Elliott has established himself as a leader and purveyor of quality, affordable garments for a generation or dudes who would prefer to wear skinny sweatpants at their wedding. Side zips and leather shorts at your local mall though? THEY AIN'T READY, FAM.
