A few weeks ago, a protester was arrested and charged with criminal mischief after smashing one of Ai Weiwei's Colored Vases worth $1 million dollars. We've all wanted to smash a vase or two to relieve some tension, but those consequences are more than enough for us to keep it bottled up. Digital artist and hacker Grayson Earle has created the perfect game to allow us to break as many vases as want without actually having to pay the astronomical fine. Ai WeiWhoops is simple: you click the screen to drop digital vases made to look like Weiwei's, and you watch the property damage counter climb as the broken glass sound effect clangs through your speakers.
On the information page for the game, Earle writes "We know that Ai takes issue with the destruction of his art [property], but how does he feel about intellectual property? Would Ai take offense to the destruction of digital representations of his work, or is it the loss of material, valuable property that provoked his response?" We can't answer for the artist, but we do know that the sound and damage counter make this game almost as satisfying as breaking real stuff, and you will probably get addicted to it very fast. Don't say we didn't warn you.
