The National September 11 Memorial Museum has announced that it will open its doors on May 21 after years of planning and construction. The museum will include various historical artifacts from the World Trade Center attack including a mangled fire truck and personal effects from first responders. For a week before the official opening, the museum will be open 24 hours a day for survivors, families of the victims, emergency workers, and other special groups to view the space and 110,000 sqaure feet of historical exhibitions before the crowds.
"We are honored that the first people to experience this Museum will be the men and women who came to our aid and protected us on 9/11, the families of the innocent victims killed that day, and the survivors who lived to tell the tale of an unimaginable horror so that we may learn from the past," Mayor Bloomberg told theNew York Times.
Admission to the museum will be $24 and tickets go on sale tomorrow, March 26. For more info, visit 911memorial.org.
