Using iPads, Performers Swap Faces in Berlin and Tokyo

The magic of technology.

Modern technology has allowed art to transcend distance, thereby enabling artists like Katsuki Nogami to take performance art to a whole other level of epic.

For Yamada Taro, Nogami has arranged for a pair of iPad-bearing performers to travel throughout the streets of Berlin and Tokyo at the same time. With their Apple tablets tucked inside the hoods of their jackets, the performers then stop to photograph random strangers from each city using their iPads. Afterwards, the two cyborg-reminiscent performers swap images so the Berlin performer can virtually travel to Japan, and vice versa.

Though the project's execution was fairly simple, Yamada Taro allows two people from opposite ends of the world to explore a whole new setting—just another one of the many reasons we love the Internet.
