A few days ago we shared Parisian mayoral candidate Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet's plan to repurpose the abandoned subway stations below the city into new art galleries, nightclubs, and restaurants. Now there are even more photos available of the proposed renovations, including a park and a concert hall.
According to Dezeen, the plans have been met with criticism because some people feel that the cost to make the spaces safe would not be worth the trouble. Kosciusko-Morizet is only a candidate for mayor so she has no power to make any of these awesome plans come to life, but she does plan to have the public weigh in on the plans and suggest others should be win the upcoming election.
Difficulties aside, we agree that turning these long-abandoned spaces into beautfiul public venues would be amazing for the city and something that should be mimicked around the world. New York has a few empty stations too, and we would love for someone to find a way to open them to the world.
