German street artist Hendrik Beikrich aka ecb has been in New Delhi, India, the past few weeks erecting a massive mural on the narrow façade of an apartment complex. The work is a giant portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, the man who spearheaded the nonviolent civil disobedience protest in British-ruled India. The piece depicts Gandhi in his traditional robe, complete with spectacles and a sweet smile. Ecb elected to stick with his customary black and white color scheme, skillfully creating contours and shadows that bring the figure to life.
