These Portraits of Stephen Fry and Other Celebrities Were Made Using Their Own Bodily Bacteria

Art and science at play.

It's safe to say that microbiologist Zachary Copfer has found a niche for his art that not many people in the world have considered. He and the Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair get actors and other famous personalities to give a sample of their bacteria in the name of art. He then uses negatives of halftone digital photographs taken of the celebrities and radiation to create gross portraits in the petri dishes of their grown bacteria.

There have been works of art made from far worst than bacteria, but this still feels a little wrong. According to PSFK, the "bacteriographs" will be on display at Millenium Point starting February 15 and at the Big Bang Fair on March 13 for those of you who love mixing science with your art.
