Canadians Ryan Anderson and Rene Antunes have launched a website called Northern Army Preservation Society of Canada that seeks to commemorate Canada’s icon history. Inspired by the belief that some of the world’s greatest logo designers are born-and-bred Canadians, the website seeks to preserve the evolution of creative ingenuity that exemplifies the Canadian spirit. In the beginning, Canadian designers adopted a clean-cut brand aesthetic exemplified by their European counterparts, eventually turning it into something uniquely Canadian. The history of the country’s emblems speaks to the Canadian ethos of never half-assing a project: “Wheat doesn’t need good design does it? We did it anyway, because it’s part of our culture.”
