Part of Paris mayoral-candidate Nathalie Koscuisk-Morizet’s platform for revitalizing the city’s derelict urban districts includes plans to turn abandoned subway stations (“ghost stations”) into entertainment halls for events like dance recitals, concerts, and clubbing. To bring this vision to life, she’s hired architects Manal Rachdi and Nicolas Laisné. Together they have already come up with a number of ideas for revitalizing neglected spaces and transforming them into socially productive venues. But Koscuisk-Morizet believes the people should also have a say: if elected, she plans to create a mechanism by which citizens can submit plans of their own.
