It seems Shia LaBeouf is quite eager to follow in the footsteps of Marina Abramovic. Last time we checked, LaBeouf was busy hunting for a Los Angeles gallery to host his ""Metamodernist Manifesto" exhibition, but the wannabe-artist apparently has plans for a performance art piece called "#IAMSORRY," and its concept seems similar to something Abramovic orJames Francowould do.
It's no coincidence that LaBeouf wants to call his show "#IAMSORRY." Back in December, the 27-year-old actor took to Twitter to issue a statement and apologize for plagiarizing the work of comics writer Dan Clowes. And just a few days ago, LaBeouf announced via Twitter that his latest string of apologies had all been an act of performance art—all of which seems to culminate in his latest proposal.
The Hollywood Reporter has recently obtained the details of LaBeouf's proposal through an unnamed gallerist.
“For 7 days, Shia will sit at a table in a small, boxy room at the rear of a Los Angeles gallery,” LaBeouf's proposal reads. “It is not clear if this is actually Shia, or an imposter. A paper bag will cover his head, emblazoned with the words ‘I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE.’"
Visitors will have access to an array of objects including pliers, whiskey, Belgian chocolates, Transformer toys, Twitter comments printed on folded paper, and a ukulele, to be used as they wish. LaBeouf, on the other hand, "will be subjected to humiliation or forgiveness at the visitor’s discretion.”
Though one gallerist has expressed in LaBeouf's proposal, it's kind of hard to tell whether LaBeouf is serious about his latest art proposal or not. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
