It seems like everyone is hopping on the Lego-building trend these days, but no one has been able to breathe life into his Lego creations as Finnish photographer Vesa Lehtimäki has.

Lehtimäki creates and captures epic moments from movies like The Empire Strikes Back and Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, using his children's toys, baking powder, proper lighting, and sheer brilliance.

He first began photographing his children's toys in 2009, documenting action figures, models, and Lego sets built within a mini diorama—the latter of which delighted viewers on Flickr. Soon his pastime became a larger project, one which included a hunt for the perfect materials to create fake snow. Lehtimäki tried everything, including plaster, sugar, flour, and baking soda, which Lehtimäki says "makes the perfect snow in Lego minifig scale."

Inspired by films like Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars especially, Lehtimäki usually borrows characters and elements from his favorite movies, using his imagination to invent something akin to a deleted scene, as opposed to simply recreating moments from the films. Click though to check out some of Lehtimäki's lifelike Lego mini-scenes.
