French street artist Charles Leval akaLevalet dropped a somber mural on the corner of rue Daubenton and rue des Patriarches. The piece, entitled Border, is black and white, rendered from China ink and kraft paper. It depicts a crushed young man slouching behind a closed entrance gate. The color scheme reflects the low spirits of it’s subject. Levalet’s mural may be a remark on France’s none-too-secret xenophobia, a sentiment that some find abhorrent and dangerous.
