New Orleans-based dancer and artist Heather Hanson has blended the art forms of dance, performance art, and drawing in her latest exhibition “The Value of a Line.” To craft her pieces, she prepares by covering the floor with a massive white paper canvas and then dipping her body in charcoal. Once her essential surfaces are covered, she steps into her artwork and begins to move, creating delicate, swooping symmetrical images. Her motions are fluid and whimsical, and they captivate the crowds that gather to watch her perform.

“The Value of a Line” is currently on display at Ochi Gallery in Ketchum, Idaho and will be there through the end of March.
