The BIG architecture firm, lead by Bjarke Ingles, is looking to build a very unique structure in the New Providence Island area of the Bahamas. The firm proposed this eight-story building with a honeycomb-like exterior designed to "maximise the enjoyment of the abundant natural qualities of Albany in The Bahamas: the landscape, the sea and the sun." The cells of the honeycomb design are individual apartment balconies and each features a sunken private pool.

Ingels says that the hexagonal design of the proposed Albany Marina Residences was inspired by the coastal setting and "evokes the natural geometries you find in certain coral formations or honeycombs." The BIG project will be completed in collaboration with HKS Architects and Michael Diggiss Architects and will also feature a residential lobby, high-end retail shops, and a public plaza designed as an extension of the building's unique design. Once completed, the structure will be the tallest landmark in the resort community of Albany.
