When world renowned fashion and fragrance pioneer John Varvatos took over the space formerly occupied by rock club CBGB, he made a point not to lose touch with the building’s rock 'n’ roll roots. This should come as no surprise to those familiar with Varvatos; he has always cited rock music as being among his great inspirations.
The John Varvatos Bowery venue plays host to Bowery Live, a series of live rock performances that take place on the store’s intimate stage. In the video above you’ll see a performance by The Wallflowers, the band headed up by Jakob Dylan (that would be Bob’s son). Here they perform the song “Love Is a Country” from their album Glad All Over. You hear a lot about rock 'n’ roll heaven, and we get the sense it might look a little something like this.
